Someday, Today

Finding meaning in all of life's adventures

Rise like a Phoenix

Wilted roses and faded embers
line her path on her search
for the love that once lit a fire in her veins
but now, only ashes and bones remain.
Silence fills the air as a blinding fog wraps around her
while ghostly shadows dance and whisper near
Of what used to be and what could’ve been.
Frozen with grief and fear
She watches as the the night wind swirls the petals and ashes
forcing a haunting dance against the sliver of the moon.
An alter of death builds behind her
encasing the past with ivy and poisoned thorns.
When she reaches, the ivy tangles her
and the poison seeps through her pores.
Red drips onto the once hallowed ground
her gasp for breath, a shallowed sound.
Succumbing to the solace
Knowing death is the only certain promise.
For the love that once gave her life
has now left her in death.
Another haunting whisper
and she takes a final breath.
A yellow glow of light
lifts the fog and the night
the wilted roses now covered in ash
lay like scars left on an uncertain path.
The ivy retreats
Relieving the poisoned embrace.
Her past still encased, she stumbles forward
Her eyes lifting skyward.
Raising her arms, like the wings of a bird
The ashes raise her to the sun
Alas, a new life has begun.

About Me

Just your normal millennial trying to make it in this world. I love going to new cities, eating new foods and meeting new people- but I usually prefer the company of my cats. I’m inviting you to come laugh, cry, travel and eat with me on the crazy ride we call adulthood.
