I haven’t posted in a long time. A very long time. And I’m not going to go into details about where I’ve been, or what I’ve done over the past year and a half since my last post (May 2018).
What I am going to get into is why I’m back.
To be honest I’ve been wanting to get on here and write for a while. I really have. But in all honesty, I had so much going on- I lost inspiration. I think the real thing is I stopped looking for reasons to be inspired.
We’ve all been there. There are seasons of our lives where we just step away – sometimes we lose focus. I know I did.
I’m in a season in my life where I’m trying to reconnect with the things I love, but also really reconnect with who I am. I’ve had a lot of changes happen since I last wrote, which means I’ve also had a lot of time for reflection.
If you’re a friend or you follow me on social media, then you already know some of those big changes that have happened in my life.
For those that don’t, well here it is:
I moved to China.
Yes, I am now one of those millennials that packed up and moved to a new country. (It wasn’t that simple, trust me).
I moved here in July because I took a teaching position at an International School.
(No, I’m not teaching English at an English center).
And let me tell it’s been a ride so far. I never know how to answer my friends and family when they ask me “how’s it going so far? Do you love it?”
Because honestly there are days when I LOVE it, and then there are days where I’m like wait what? And all I really want is a good taco, but alas I’m in China and that’s nearly impossible to find.
But to answer the burning question, I do like it here, sure there are growing pains- but that’s to be expected. I’m at a point where I’m finally figuring out how to balance my work life and social life. This honestly has been the hardest thing to do since moving here. But I realized quickly that if I didn’t set up a routine and create a balance for myself I was going to spiral back home. And that’s not what I really wanted to do.
Part of figuring out that balance is making sure I had set time aside for myself. Time for me to reflect, reconnect, and really focus on me. Writing has always been something I not only enjoyed, but also something that allowed me time for myself and time for that reflection.
I can easily get lost with a pen and paper all day.
So I decided to come back to my blog and share this season of my life with, well with whoever reads this.
I’m going to be posting about my journey here to China- how this came to be and why I’m here, my travels, the great not so great dating scene, food, life. Everything.
I’m just going to Eat, Pray, Love my life and see where it takes me. (It worked for Elizabeth Gilbert).
That’s all I have to say for now, I have a cold and really want to go snuggle with my cat.
